Just read that Richie Beanud is battling skin cancer as well as injuries from his car crash last year and may miss most of the cricket season. Still the best cricket commentator in the game for me, and it wont be the same without him calling the action. I'd rather listen to him and Bill any day than those wankers Slater, Healy and Mr Boring Mark Taylor.

Get well soon Rich

Is said to still be commentating the India test (not sure all or one or some) although undergoing treatment.

I reckon channel 9 should do a sit down interview with the 3 remaining originals now Richie, Ian and Bill while they're still with us.

I'll never understand why RB never received a knighthood for his services to Cricket.
RIP

That defies belief to me as well.

Some of the people who have been knighted ahead of him over the years defies all belief.

How Ian Botham got a knighthood and Richie didn't considering Richie has done a lot more for cricket than Botham ever will defies all belief.

Australia. never had any knighthoods from 1972-75 and from 1981-2013 so there wasn't a huge windows for him to be knighted.
It would have had to have happened immediately he retired. I did read an article, maybe by R.S.Whitington around 1965 suggesting Richie be knighted but that's the only time I ever saw it mentioned.
