In an early season wake-up call North got demolished by a polished Sturt outfit by 10 goals.

North looked disorganised with poor skills at times, Sturt capitalising on our indecision and ordinary execution out running and out muscling us for most of the day.

Despite the even hit out count the Roosters got smashed around the clearances which could see a return to league action from Brett O'Hara who returned from injury through the reserves. (Pfeiffer, Wright and B.White also put in impressive games in the reserves)

We kicked with a slight breeze in the first quarter but failed to make the most of it being behind to Sturt at quarter time, the writing was well and truly on the board.

The Rooster defenders were under constant attack and led by Shane Schubert put up a valiant effort while Sturt were totally dominating the centre. Weight of numbers eventually proved too much with Chambers kicking 7 while Luke Crane dominated the midfield.

Sturt had 55 more possession than North and used the ball much more efficiently than North to help them bury a recent Prospect Oval hoodoo they had. North had 19 more marks but this was mainly because Sturt forced north to play a short chipping game with targets further down the field covered.

After Sturt had the game wrapped up with a 43 point lead at half time the second half was a nothing affair, North did fight back to get within 29 points early in the third quarter but Sturt were quick to snuff that out and went on to win by exactly 10 goals.

Not many players could hold their heads up for the Roosters but Chris Ladhams continued his fine early season form racking up 29 possessions in the midfield while Clinton Alleway provided strong for most of the games.

Premierships aren't won in April as Sturt discovered last year and next week we front up at Alberton on Sunday to face an in form Daniel Hargraves who kicked 10 on the weekend and will be fired up to kick another bag this week. Similarly to the Sturt game at Prospect we have a very good recent record against Port at Alberton, hopefully this one turns out differently in a stepping stone to get our season back on track.
